For David’s Instructors/Coaches
David is very results
oriented and has a strong sense of urgency for improving his game. If an
instructor mentions several changes that need to be made, David will want
to move from point to point fairly quickly. He’s more interested in
producing results than having lengthy technical and theoretical
discussions.
David likes to understand the big
picture and wants to know the end result he’s working towards. When
instructors suggest a change, they also need to explain the end result the
change is supposed to achieve.
David will have more patience for making changes when he clearly
knows the end result he's working towards.
David will embrace unusual drills and
other approaches that golfers with more conservative learning styles might
be hesitant to try. He will also expect to see progress quicker than
players who have more patient and methodical learning styles. Instructors need to let him know when he
is making progress even if the progress is coming in incremental steps.
David gets the most out of a coaching
session when he slows down and relaxes a bit before the actual session
begins. Taking a few minutes for some stretching and deep breathing will
help him relax and get ready to focus on the objectives of the
session.
